Temporary Overnight Closure of M5 Jcts 7-8 on 23-24 June

Information received by the Parish Council from Highways England 9th June 2020

Re: M5 junction 7 to junction 8 annual bridge inspections.

I’m writing to inform you about our upcoming bridge inspections on the M5 near Worcester. This work will be carried out by our contractor, Kier, on our behalf.

What we’re doing and why? What are the benefits?

We’ll be working within your area to carry out our annual bridge inspections. The work will be carried out along the M5 between junction 7 and junction 8, northbound and southbound. The inspections have been designed to ensure the integrity of the bridges are maintained, whilst remaining safe and fit for purpose.

When will this work take place?

We’ll work overnight on 23 June and 24 June, 9pm to 6am. Our planned road work may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What does this mean for you?

During closures, we’ll provide a fully signed diversion route. The diversion is via the M50, A38, A4440 and vice versa.

I’d also like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption to those living close to the work. We’ll make every effort to carefully manage noise levels and additional lighting to minimise the impact.

All our sites have strict safeguarding measures, in line with Public Health England guidance, to prevent the spread of COVID19 and none of our sites are open to the public, they are closely monitored, and the situation is kept under constant review.

We always apply the Government’s latest advice. We have well tested contingency plans and our on-road teams, control room staff and the people who back them up are all working hard to maintain a safe road network whilst this work is carried out.
