It is very good to be able to share with you the figures showing the steady growth in journey numbers through last year on our community bus service, the Norton Connector. The dotted line on the graph shows the encouraging rising trend.
We have sufficient finances to continue the service through 2022 while we consider our funding options for the service beyond this year. We are also aware that WCC are putting together a new bus strategy to bid for the promised increases in government funding and we want to position the Norton Connector ready to be part of the expanding county bus services.
The vast majority of our current NC passengers are residents who do not have daily access to cars. While it is fantastic to be providing this essential service, we need to think about the changes we all need to make to our transport usage to help fight climate change. We need to know what you think we should do to the Norton Connector service to enable you to leave the car at home sometimes. We will be launching an on-line questionnaire in the next few weeks to get your views, so look out for it and make sure you have your say.
