Wychavon Town update
No doubt many of you will have seen the announcement that Ministers have named the seven areas where new towns could be built, and that Worcestershire Parkway (Wychavon Town – WT) was not included.
However, since that announcement, the Parish Council has confirmed that while WT will not be a nominated ‘new town’, it will still go ahead and remains part of the Government’s programme to expedite housebuilding.
Homes England has also confirmed that the new town announcement does not change their position regarding WT. In confirmation that nothing will change, the South Worcestershire Development Plan Review (SWDPR), the vehicle through which WT will be delivered, has now been signed off by the Planning Inspectors and will be formally adopted by the three South Worcestershire councils this week.
The SPD (Supplementary Planning Document – i.e. ‘building specifications’) is currently undergoing revision following public consultation and is expected to be adopted by end Jun 26. If there is a silver lining to be found, the SWDPR will satisfy our parish housing supply out to 2041, thereby allowing us to fight speculative planning, such as the 64 houses RCA Regeneration want to build on Pound House Farm land.
