Sentry Statue Dedication by HRH The Princess Royal

Tuesday 4th April 2023

Norton Barracks is significant in this area for its history relating to the recruitment of soldiers into the Worcestershire Regiment who went on to fight in either World War I or World War two.  Our small group of volunteers have worked over the years publicising the value of the Barracks and the thousands of soldiers who joined the regiment. There are examples of this around the village of Norton.  To promote the value of those who fought on our behalf we have had a statue commissioned and erected in Norton.

We are delighted to announce that HRH The Princess Royal has agreed to perform a dedication of the statue.  Amongst those attending will be a Military Band, serving soldiers from the Mercian Regiment, Veteran soldiers and various dignitaries.

If you are interested in seeing Her Royal Highness, then please come along and remember to be respectful of all attending.  Please arrive before 10.30 am and be guided on where to stand by event organisers/stewards.  The event is due to last for around an hour.

Please note that Crookbarrow Road will be closed for the duration of the event (from the large Crookbarrow Road roundabout to Mandalay Drive).
